The Deaths Before Dishonor

Piece #12

Title: The Deaths Before Dishonor

Medium: pen, alcohol markers, water markers, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, colored pencil, and isopropyl alcohol on paper board

Description: The lower third of the piece features three organs. Pig's intestines drawn with water markers, alcohol markers, and acrylic paint. A human kidney drawn with alcohol markers and pen. A completely fictional organ done with acrylic paint. The upper two thirds of the image feature a trio that have appeared a few times in my portfolio. The subject in Pretty Little Thing, a member of the Formicephalos genus, and the fictional revolver featured in Bite the Bullet. The piece itself represents the duality of responsibility and power. The title can be read in a few different ways. Does it refer to the death one might prefer over giving up their honor, or does it refer to the wanton deaths that lie in wake of those that have surrendered their honor?
