Piece #5
Title: Skin Deep
Medium: marker, acrylic, gel pen, window sealant, and plastic on wooden artist's board
Description: What might seem initially to be abstract is in fact a diagram of human skin! Most prominently is hair follicle cut from a pair of plastic sunglasses, with a sebaceous gland halfway up the shaft. Embedded in the yellow fat covering the lower third of the diagram is, from the left, a cluster of veins, a sweat gland, and a sliver of a sensory corpuscle. They say that beauty is only skin deep, but this piece is my digression.
