Ashes To Ashes

Piece #11

Title: Ashes To Ashes

Medium: Acrylic paint, gel pen, matte medium, and mod podge on plexiglass

Description: This piece is composed of over thirty layers of acrylic paint, mod podge, and matte medium on the backside of a sheet of plexiglass. The piece is viewed in such a way that the layer painted last is the furthest away from the viewer, allowing for literal depth rather than implied depth. The painting is of a fictional nebula. The meaning of the piece is twofold; it represents the hope for alien life, and it also represents the idea that all life comes from the death of those before it.
