Piece #9

An entire planet functioning as a single organism has, over the course of centuries, developed both rocket science and biotechnology, and is using those sciences for the purpose of creating biomechanical beings grafted from the planet's own flesh that will able to reach civilization beyond the stars. The hope of planet was to for its children to return with scientific advancements from other civilizations, but by creating the biomechanical ships, the planet faces a concept it had never before conceived of: Individuality. Will the biomechanical children ever even want to come home? How does a creature deal when faced with such a radical change to how their understanding of the world works?
